Being a Moorish American really means nothing more than being born in North Africa or being a decendent of those who were. It is an ethnic term rather than a religious one. In fact, many Moors are not of the Islamic faith. Many Moorish people are Christians or Jews.

It means that they are Muslim, usually black, claiming their decendancy from slaves brought here from Northern Africa (home of the Moors), and stripped of thier national identity and heritage. Although not a radical Islamic group as a whole, they do believe in retribution to the decendants of slave holders.
