W sitting is a common habit among young children. If your child is W sitting, encourage him or her to sit with legs out in front or with legs crossed ("Indian" style). W sitting inhibits the development of core body strength and causes weak, tight muscles in the hip joints.

To visualize this position, think of kneeling on the floor, then splay the calves of the legs to each side in more or less a 'V' formation and lower the buttocks to the floor. You have now achieved sitting W style, if you are flexible and limber enough!

Sitting W sytle means that the person has their bottom flat on the floor with each knee bent so that your legs form a "W". The person's shin are face down on the floor and their feet are actually behind them.

Sitting in W style is more commonly known as sitting Indian style or for little kids, sitting "criss-cross applesauce. " It is when you are sitting on your butt with your legs bent and crossed in towards you.
