What does it mean when a Rottweiler growls?

My dog is always growling at my son.

A Rottweiler can be growling because he is being affectionate or because he is showing aggressive behavior. Look at the body language of your dog. If he looks like he is being playful, then the growls are affectionate. If he looks somewhat tense and possible angry, then the growls are him/her showing aggressive behavior, which should be stopped immediately.

If your Rottweiler is growling I would keep your son away from the dog. Rottweilers are fun-loving and very defensive. They also have been known to act out of character when provoked. The reason your dog may be growling at your son could be anything from it feeling unconfortable around him to the time of day it is.
