How do you take a food bowl away from a growling dog?

Every time I try to take the bowl away from my pitt bull he growls at me.

Do not tolerate this behavior. This is not a good sign. Wear heavy training gloves. When he growls or snarls, grab him by the muzzle firmly, look him in the eye and say firmly: NO. Keep working on it til he learns. Hopefully, he won't kill you in your sleep.

Your dog is an aggressive dog. You are going to have to take him for some sort of obedience training, otherwise if you don't he could hurt you or someone else in your home.

This is actually really dangerous behavior. You can start working on conditioning the dog, but you have to establish that he is not the "pack leader," which he believes.

NEVER take a bowl that is full of food away from your dog. They find this very threatening and an invasion of their territory and will fight back or growl if you attempt to touch it. Only put enough for your dog's meal in the bowl and then when he's done let him wander away before you take the bowl.
