Calcium is an alkaline earth metal. It react with many substances. It can oxidize very quickly in the air, form calcium oxide. It will explode if it touch water, during the explosion, it produces hydrogen gas. And the remaining substances will form calcium hydroxide.
Process of calcium react with water:
Ca+2H2O -->Ca(OH)2+H2
