The number on most pieces of fine jewelry pertains to the amount of valuable metal you have in your piece. For example, let's just say it's made of platinum. Yours would contain of 90. 0% pure platinum and 10. 0% of another metal.

The 900 represents 90%, which means that your jewelry is 90% of the metal that it is claimed to be, which I'm guessing is most likely silver. I hope that helps!

900 is a karat mark that can be found on silver. This denotes the alloy - it is 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, in this case.

This is the amount of silver in the piece. Most standard silver is marked 975. A piece of 925 or 900 silver is often going to be called Tibetan Silver or something similar. This indicates that there is a higher percentage of other metals, such as nickel, as an alloy in the silver.
