You absolutely can still send your problem teen to military school, or boarding school, or improvement wilderness programs like Outward Bound. Generally all problem teens really need is more good old-fashioned discipline, and at any of the many military schools that still exist in the United States they will get it in spades. Just do a Google search!

The best thing to do with a problem teen is to genuinely show them that you care without showing that you are afraid of/for them. Patience, and persistance, when you talk to them and the majority of them will open up to you as long as you are honest and keep your word. military school should be a last result.

Military school's an option but have you tried taking away stuff and reducing priveledges? Try that first. Let the teen earn them back. Grounding works. Be tough and strong.

Sit them down and talk to them, ask them why they are acting out. You can get a family counselor to talk to both of you, it might be something they are going through in school.Find out if they need a tutor or even changing their classes might help.
