What do they build zoo cages out of?

How do they keep the animals in (and the people out)?

It all depends on the animal that they are building the cage for. The birds for instance need smaller wire so that they can't fly through the openings but it doesn't have to be that strong. But a gorilla's cage would need small openings and to be steel to protect the visitors.

Some zoo enclosures are built from a kind of plastic, so that people can see the animals but the animals cannot get out. Certain enclosures are made of metal but have a type of net to keep hands and fingers from going through. Other enclosures are essentially open, but have a type of deep moat to contain the animals.
