What do the various gauges tell you in a Ford Ranger?

You are going to have one that shows the the temperature and then you will have one that shows the battery and the gas gauge is also there. You may also have a rpm meter which shows you how many rpm's you are reving the motor on your vehicle. Just look at the symbols and it will show you.

Speed, Revolutions per Minute (RPM), Engine Temp, Oil Pressure, Charge on the alternator, some models have transmission temperature. All are standard basic gauges. It also depends on what your year of vehicle and motor size is to be more definative. Each gauge has picture deliniating what the gauge reads, just keep it out of the red, red is bad.
