This is based on the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator. There are four scales: Extrovert-Introvert (where you process information and get energy); Intuition-Sensing (Type of preferred information, ideas or concrete data); Thinking-Feeling (What your value more in decisions) and Perceiving-Judging (essentially being time/schedule oriented or event oriented). There are 16 combinations derived from dominance in each scale.

It is a briefer version of the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator and rates you on four continuums: introversion/extroversion; intuition/sensing; feeling/thinking; perceiving/judging. There are 16 combinations/types. See Kiersey/Bates, "Please Understand Me."
