Depending on the type of overhang, make sure that every so often you clear it of debris as that will cause future problems.

Something to take into consideration would be the use of the overhang( like for snow, or shade or rain)! You would need to look at your options reguarding the use!

You should know about the sunbeam and raifall. How far you want they penetrate your patio, will determine how long your patio oherhangs.
