What do I need to consider before I buy finches?

If you are considering finches, know that your commitment will be 5-10 years or longer. Finches are social, so 2-3 birds will do. Decide before you buy if you want to raise hatchlings, and provide the birds with a nest if you do. Lastly, finches need a cage large enough for short flights as part of their daily exercise.

Before you buy birds think about the qualities that you enjoy. Do you want finches that sing or are you more interested in the color of plumage? Each type has different food requirements and it is a good idea to research the needs of the kind you are interested in.

Finches make wonderful pets, although they are not as interactive with humans as some species. They like to hear their human talk and whistle at them, but they're not big fans of being held or handled. What they really like is a small wicker nest to sleep inside of, at least one per bird, and lots of different perches.

Before buying any pet, you need to be aware of the fact that you get his freedom. Since we want to buy a bird,you need choose a cage with plenty of space. Finches are small birds very charming, They feed basicaly on seeds. But also they need minerals and vegetables.

If I was to purchase a few finches I would need to consider many factors. Firstl, can I afford to buy them and then take care of them? Secondly, is my home environment bird-friendly? I would also consider the time commitment it would take to give them a good home.
