You will need to graduate from college, then go to dental school and get licensed to practice dentistry. From there, you will either have to find a job working with an established dental practice or you can attempt to open your own practice. It will take a while to get there.

First of all, you must be proficient in the sciences. When researching undergraduate institutions, look for a school with a strong pre-dental program or a school with a strong human biology program from which you can progress to dental school, provided you dedicate the majority of your time to your studies.

In the U.S., you must have a baccaulaureate degree from an accredited institution, sit for the DAT, apply to dental school, interview and be accepted. Complete the four-year program, which is more intense than medical school, complete a residentcy, and pass the national licensing exams.

To become a dentist, you must have a good background in the physical and biological sciences. You need a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology. And they must have a good rapport with people. Obviously, someone who is working that close to their conscious patients, who are often fearful, need to be good at managing different personalities.

To become a licensed dentist, the first thing you should do is take plenty of science, math and health courses while you're still in high school because this will prepare you for college-level science courses. When you get to college, you can get a bachelor's degree in pre-med biology then enroll in a dentistry program at an accredited medical school

A dentist is a specialized medical doctor. That means that to become one, a person must first must obtain an undergraduate degree, and then be accepted to medical school. The costs for both of these average around $100,000-$300,000, and in total take about ten years to complete. In addition, you'd also need to find a job as a dentist.
