What do I know to do so I can help my cat who just gave birth?

the cat needs a safe warm and quiet place to rest with its kittens as well as plenty of food and water to get back strength

Provide your cat with a clean, enclosed "safe" spot in which to sleep and guard over her kittens. In the box, lay down a clean towel, blanket, or sheet. keep the box in a dark area out of the way of foot traffic and loud noise, so the kittens and their mother is not spooked.

Usually cats don't require any assistance from humans during birth or after. Just make sure mom is taking care of the kittens and all of them are nursing enough.
