What do I do if my 1099 was not sent by my employer?

Your employer should send you a W2 not a 1099. You should contact the person/company you worked for to get a copy of it.

1) Do they have a W-9 form on file for you? 2) If they do not, call 1-800-TAX-FORM & submit it to company 3) If they do, ask them to provide you with a 1099-? for that tax year 4) File a 1040X Amended Return.

As a self-employed person, report all of your income from your business activity whether or not you receive a 1099MISC for your services. Only amounts over $600 need to be reported by a 1099MISC by the payer, but all self-employment income is subject to tax.
