These spiders live in tropical and semitropical locations the world over, including Hawaii and Florida. They are large and scary looking, brown in color with a flat, broad body and very long legs (legspan up to 11 inches) that lie close to the surface they walk on. The front four legs are the longest, as with crab spiders.

Huntsman spiders, found throughout most of the world, are also known as the giant crab spider because of their appearance.Their legs are twisted so they extend forward in crab-like fashion. Many are a shade of dull brown or grey, and the legs have fairly prominent spines but the body is smooth.
