The countries I know that have the highest crime rate are Brazil and The Congo. Both have the highest number of average murders daily.

The United States of America tops the list for the highest crime rate totaling almost 12 million crimes committed per year. The United Kingdom is next with about 6.6 million followed by Germany-6.5 million, France-3.8 million, Russia-3 million, Japan-2.8 million, South Africa-2.7 million, Canada-2.5 million, Italy-2.2 million and India-1.8 million.

Based on the 2002 crime rate the top 10 winners are Iceland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Finland, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Canada, Germany and Austria. The United States ranks #17.

I would say countries like Iraq and Afghanistan have the highest crime rate. There are constantly reports of war and hate crimes, guns, and people missing. Additionally, they are the home to the suicide bombers.

Countries with high levels of social unrest. Social unrest need not be the same as poverty stricken. The USA is, on a whole, an affluent country with high crime rates.

According to mapsofworld. com, Iceland, Sweden, and New Zealand have the highest reported crime rates in the world. Of course, you have to take the results with a grain of salt, as many crimes don't get reported.

Mostly developing countries like Canada, Sweden, and Scotland have high crimes rates due to unemployment and lack of proper governance in controlling crimes.
