My video is choppy with my dvd player.

The laser could be worn down or dirty, the video cable could be damaged, the laser mechanism could be malfunctioning, or the disc could be otherwise unreadable.

If your video is choppy when playing it in your DVD player, try playing the disc on another device. If it is still choppy then the blame falls on the disc. If it plays fine then the blame falls on the DVD player. Some DVD players tend to overheat (Especially the cheap ones) and video playback is choppy after time.

There might be some dust or dirt trapped inside it. Try opening it and blowing and use a dvd player cleaner. Alternately it could be your disks - try a few different dvds and try cleaning them too.
