What could be the cause of my fan running when my car is off?

I noticed that my fan continues to run even when my car has been turned off, why is that?

The cooling fan of many cars made today are electric and controlled by a thermal switch. The switch turns the fan on when water in the radiator reaches a certain temperature and off when it drops below this threshold temperature. On most vehicles from the 70's and before, the fan was spun by a belt connected to the crank.

This is completely normal and no cause for concern. The fan cools the engine; the engine is still hot when the car is turned off, sometimes, and the fan simply keeps running until it cools.

This happens on a lot of newer cars. It is cooling itself off as fast as possible to save the life of your engine. Its suppose to do this.
