What could be the cause of a bump between my leg and groin that hurts?

The bump came up suddenly and I don't remember any injury.

It could be a hernia. Such a presentation is unusual, but in severe cases it is possible for a hernia to have external signs.

This may be a n abcess. It's stated the bump forms from a fluid that the skin produces and in some it is a thick milky fluid, which, when it doesn't find an exit causes inflamation. I also heard that it can also come from an ingrowing hair.

It could very well be an ingrown hair or an infected follicle, especially if it's in an area where the band of underpants would be in contact.
