There are many problems that can cause this startling symptom. Statistically, it's most likely to simply mean you're out of fuel - possibly because your fuel gauge isn't working right, so you think there's fuel left, but there isn't. Other common causes: Ignition system, engine-control computer, out of oil.

Not knowing specifics about your car and modifications done to it I can only give you general reasons. It must have lost either fuel or sparks since that's the main things needed to run. Check your fuel system including the pump, lines, and injectors. Then move to the electrics. Make sure there is spark and your battery isn't dead.

If your car dies while driving, it may be your that your alternator is bad, which drains your battery. Also your spark plugs or ignition wires may be defective.

Sounds like a vacuum hose issue, have you checked all your hoses to make sure they're not perished or have blown off? That would be the cause of your problems.
