Your computer power button, like any other power button is cause of much wear and tear being one of the most common use and overlooked feature on your computer. Often dirt or dust can get down the side of it causeing it to push harder.

This problem means that the power button has somehow become physically damaged, either on the outside or the inside of the computer. Someone will need to open the case up and investigate, and possibly replace the power button - you may want to call a technician to do this if you are not confident with computer hardware.

Repeated usage could have caused some wear and tear. But you want to check if there is something obstructing the button. Open up your computer and check around the power-button.

First, it could be blocked by some sticky substance like cola, that may have come in contact with it. It could also be that a lot of dust has collected behind your power butten. Try to open your PC and expose the power butten area, and you are likely to find the problem.
