What could be going on if my check engine light stays on all the time?

If your engine light is on all the time, get it checked. Or pull the check engine light fuse out of the fuse panel then return it after 10 seconds.

In some cars such as a Toyota Corolla, this light comes on every 3000 miles simply to remind you that it is now time to get an oil change. The light can be easily turned off by following your owner's manual. Another common cause is a faulty or bad oxygen sensor.

That means there is a problem with the engine. Take it to a shop or use a scanner to find out what the issue is before you do further damage.
