Skin irritation is almost the same thing as a rash. A rash is a type of skin irritation. The primary difference is the cause. If you have a rash due to heat, it is not irritation. If it is due to contact (such as rubbing against something), it is irritation.

A rash is generally more uniform than a skin irratation. A rash covers a wider space. An irratation might only be marked by a very small space such as an abrasion.
