Question by  monica (11)

What clearance is required for over the range microwaves?

I am wanting to install a microwave over my stove but am concerned that it will be too close to the stove and cause a fire.

First get a microwave that is made for over the stove operations - it'll have a fan and a light. If it isn't an over the stove microwave then don't use it as one. Minimum distance from the stove top is 18" although 22" or higher is where you should be targeting.

Not a good idea to have the microwave that high above the stove it really is not safe when you go to remove a plate bowl with hot liquid as you are above your shoulder pivot point causing a high possibility of pouring the hot liquid down your front  add a comment

Adequate airflow is needed to cool the electronic parts and extend the life of your appliance. Provide enough clearance to allow air to flow through and vent the microwave. That being said, building codes vary from region to region; so please check with your local building codes office, usually found in your city's municipal building, for your area.

If the as per design I want microwave over the stove then firstly you have to place it at sufficient distance from stove so that there should not be any contact of flame with wire of microwave and secondly the route of wiring point should be proper.

Normally there should not be really any types of problems when you are wanting to install these two close together.
