Pseudomonas is a gram rod negative bacteria that produces opportunistic infections, and is usually seen in patients with compromised immune systems, such as HIV. It colonizes in the lungs, but can appear in any part of the body. It is often seen in patients hospitalized 1+ weeks and in cystic fibrosis patients or those on ventilators. Morbidity rates are high.
