A person who has undergone splenectomy for hypersplenism or some other cause is exposed to infectious risk by capsulated organisms like pneumococcus wich can cause fatal pneumonia. Hence as a precaution,patients undergoing splenectomy are given pnemococcal vaccine prior to surgery which along with other vaccines like meningococcal vaccine must be administered every 3-5 years to prevent infection[OPSI-overwhelming post-splenectomy infections].

I can tell you that you need to be under the care of a physician. You probably are if you have received a diagnosis of pneumonia. As you probably know, people who have no spleen have a much higher risk of severe infection. You should be receiving an agressive course of antibiotics. In the future, please get immunized against pneumonia.
