This could be the cause of a viral infection, as the body detects such an infection, the lymph nodes commonly become inflamed. If they have been inflamed for any extended period of time, seek immediate medical attention.

These could be a cause of the common cold or tonsilitis. Other causes could be an infection or mononucleosis. More serious causes such as a lymphoma is also possible.

The in list of causes that produce swollen lymph nodes, the most common cause is infections with viruses (the common cold usually), then among more serious conditions we can list: lymphatic obstruction (that can also happen as consequence of infections but also because of tumours, surgery or injuries), mononucleosis, leukaemia, tuberculosis, toxoplasmosis etc.

The lymph node swelling can come from an infection, immune response or cancer. Sometimes after these glands have been swollen they stay swollen. Only your doctor can diagnose this one.

Usually when your lymph nodes are swollen this is an indication of illness in your body. If they are painless it may be a sinus problem or cold. If you arnet having any symptoms their is a small chance that it could be an indication of cancer in the body.
