This could be caused by one or both constant velocity joints being bad in one of the cv axles. This might also be the a/c compressor clutch cycling on and off due to low refrigerant in the a/c system.

If it is clicking in the front end, then it is probably your C. V. joint. If your C. V. joint clicks, it will need to be replaced. If it is clicking in the engine, then it is probably a valve. In that case, your car's engine will need a valve job.

First determine what part of the automobile the noise is heard from and when does it occur. If it clicks while trying to start, the battery is dead.

Depending on the type of noise it could be a number of things. The first thing that comes to mind would be that it is low on oil. Another problem could be that the valves need to be adjusted, because they could be loose.

If the clicking occurs while the vehicle in motion it could be CV joints or maybe just a rock stuck in the tire. If if happens while turning the tie rod ends or bushings are the most likely culprit.
