A main culprit is causing calcifications in the thyroid is an excess of vitamin D intake. hypoparathyroidism and some infections can cause calcifications in the thyroid as well.

calcification of the thyroid can be caused by different deificiencies where the body is not functioning as it usually is when it comes to the metabolism of calcium and other precipitates
