I give my cat hairball control cat food. It seems to work pretty well. I also brush her a couple times a week.

I usually purchase hairball lubricant. It can be found anywhere you can buy pet supplies. It comes in a tube, and you feed the kitty a small ribbon each day until the hairballs clear up. I continue to use it once a week for maintenance.

I would recommend using a product called Laxatone, most pet stores carry it. You may need to give it daily for a week or two, then only once or twice a week. I would also recommend brushing your cat on a regular basis if possible. To help prevent hairballs, you can try one of the hairball diets.

You can buy a paste which is supposed to somehow dissolve the hair balls. You have to squeeze a blob onto the cat's front paw and the cat licks it off. It's quite an art because, if you don't get it on the paw accurately, the cat shakes his paw and the lump of paste flies off.

It not always necessary to treat a cat hairball because they can actually treat it by themselves. The best treatment that you can give to your cat is prevention.Giving your cat a regular brushing will help them to remove loose hair.

I would buy some Purina One cat food with hairball control. While this is not fool proof it will help a lot.

You need to brush your cat to eliminate excess hair. Certain cat foods now have hairball prevention additives in them. A hairball removal medicine with fiber and prebiotics will help.
