The only treatment for feline murmur is the same as used to treat humans who have the same condition. Only surgery can treat the problem. There is a physical flaw in the cat's heart that needs to be repaired.

Ive been told by my vet it will cost £3000 for an operation on my young cat with a murmur. I just cannot afford it! Im just going to enjoy her for as long as I have her hopefully a long time yet.  add a comment

The treatment for feline heart murmur depends on the age of the cat and the severity of the murmur. You can choose to take your cat to a veterinary cardiologist, or just watch and wait. There are many causes of heart murmurs in cats. You should always have the murmur verified by a veterinarian.

Some cats do not have any problems and others do. You should monitor your kitty's playtime, administer appropriate supplements and identify the cause by seeing a veterinary cardiology specialist.

If it was diagnosed by a vetinarian, he or she would have recommended medication if needed. In most cases none is required. I have seen many cases where the animal lives a long, happy life and sometimes the murmur you hear will go away on it's own, so don't fret.

Sometimes it requires treatment like medication, but often times a cat can live a normal life without any treatment at all.

Your vet will prescibe the best treatment for your cat depending on the severity and fluid retention. In some cases they can live for years with this condition.
