University of Connecticut's men's basketball team has been a traditional powerhouse of the NCAA division I (as has their women's program). They have a Hall-of-Fame coach in Jim Calhoun and won national championships in 1999 and 2004. Some of the great players to come from U Conn include Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Emeka Okafor, and Ben Gordon.
