I love the decals and the emblem - they have such a retro look! You should see pics on the internet of the Raleigh Olympian emblems to understand what I say!

The bikes were British-made Raleigh/Carlton bicyles built in Nottingham and Worksop, England. The Olympian model bikes were developed in the early 80's to compete with the bikes from Taiwan and Japan. The 1985 Raleigh Olympian weighed about 26 lbs and ranged in size 19", 21", 23" and 25". The frames were made mostly of chrome and alloy.

An older two wheel bicycle, with what is described as a "bull horn" handlebar. Reviews say it's comfortable to ride long distances and changing terrain. The handlebars are "dropped," and the tires on most of these bicycles have aluminum alloy rims. Current versions of this bicycle are no longer made, but their a ton of used bicycles available.

Raleigh Olympians were racing bikes (cycles) built in the 1980s I think. i don't think the company manufactures this anymore. In fact I don't think the company even exists anymore. Are you planning to buy one?

Well, it's difficult to get your hands on a decent one. Raleigh Olympians can be bought, repaired and then resold at a good profit. But you need to know what you are doing.

Actually with modern lighter frames and better bikes, unless you really try hard you may not be able to sell it. Olympian frames are a bit on the heavier side.  add a comment

Busyfingers - I've seen quite a few ads for selling these bikes on craigslist and other classifieds - even qikr. I guess they are still in demand - some of these listings have sold pretty quickly!  add a comment

Great Bike for me...I put 30,000+ miles on mine back in the day (mid-late 80 's), still have it and it still rides great! Love it's looks. Wasn't top line but a great sport-tour bike.

Probably the best all-around of modern bicycles. Very good quality of materials and craftmanship have made them the best of the 'survivors' ... If you have one, keep it---or see that it goes only to one who can appreciate it. A recommended family heirloom!
