Staph infection in dogs is usually a skin disease, and is bacterial. Symptoms are yellow pustules, reddening of skin, and hair loss. It can be treated by cutting away the hair, using antibiotic shampoo and antibiotic ointment. Oral antibiotics can also be used. The dog may have to wear a collar so that it won't disturb the treated area.

All dogs carry staphlyococcus bacteria on their skin. It is not a problem until the skin is broken by injury or irritation from fleas, allergy, etc. and the bacteria enters and causes infection. Antibiotics are necessary to treat the infection. If untreated, a staph infection will spread and eventually kill the dog.

Staph is short for Staphylococcus, a type of bacteria which are commonly on the skin of both dogs and humans. The bacteria can become an infection of the skin, which can vary in severity. Often staph infections are a secondary problem caused by allergies or parasites. Both oral and topical antibiotics are used to treat staph. Call your vet.

Staph bacterias naturally occur on dogs and humans skin. The bacteria becomes an infection when the dog becomes immuno compromised. Staph infections should always be cultured so you can start the animal on the appropriate antibiotics.

Staph infections in canines are a bacterial skin infection that can be caused by several factors. Allergies, poor care from owner, weak immune system, and hormonal problems can all cause staph infections. A vet will perform a microscopic test to see if it is bacterial. If so, oral and topical medication may be given.

A dog really shouldn't catch staph but if yours has one or you think it does then you need to get to the vet right away a staph infection can take it's life if you don't. And they don't just go away without treatment. But your vet will be able to help you out.
