The plant must be watered continuously when there is no rainfall. The area around the plant must be mulched with wood chips to prevent weed growth ands help witih moisture retention. Fertilize the plants yearly in the spring with slow release of fertilizer prior to new growth appearing. Prune dead and damaged branches from the flowering quince in the spring.
