What can you tell me about Plato and Oedipus?

Plato is often credited with the beginnings of western philosophy, I remember he was a student of Socrates. Plato was a philosopher, writer,teacher and founder of several schools. Oedipus murdered his father and married his mother. Oedipus is the basis for Oedipus Complex which Freud referred to in his writings.

Plato was a famous Greek philosopher who change the structure of Western thought. Oedipus is a tragic hero in a Greek play by the same name (Oedipus Rex). Oedipus ends up killing his father and becoming king. He also unknowingly marries his mother and shamefully gouges out his own eyes.

Oedipus was a mythical Greek king of Thebes. He was told to be destined to kill his father and marry his mother an this would bring ruin to his family and land.
