Claire's does ear piercing with a gun, a mechanical device that shoots the needle into the ear lobe. While some piercers disparage this method, it is safe. It is often times considered more painful then a proffesional piercing, but still relatively painless.

I just recently got my ears pierced at Claire's and it was an enjoyable experience. The lady that did the piercing was very nice, explained everything out to me step by step, showed me how to clean the ears, and was very experienced. She did the job so quickly that I didn't even feel the pain.

Claire' s is a store usually within the mall that has staff trained to do general piercings such as ears. Most stores do have age restrictions and require parental permission. They clean, pierce and educate the customer on proper care.
