How do you know if cheek piercings are infected?

I have a bump and little circle around the piercing. When I smile it shows. What could this be?

If it is infection it will be swollen and red and will be accompanied with pain. The best thing to do is treat it with an antiseptic made for piercings. If it appears to get worse or the pain grows see a doctor.

This is most likely infected. Clean the area with some peroxide and keep it clean and dry. See a doctor if it doesn't improve or if you notice any redness.

If your piercing is infected it can be red, swollen and tender to the touch. In some cases there may be a small amount of "puss" or fluid. There may also be a foul odor coming from the site. Try using a small touch of neosporin, that should help.

The scar tissue sometimes looks like a bump when the piercing is still fairly fresh. If it looks infected go back to the piercer.

What should i do? I have a bump where my piercing is and the back piece is in my skin. I'm scared. Can I go back and get a longer bar? Could he open the back so I can change it ?
