If you are going to replace the cable you have to make sure it is the right distance exactly as it is very important for how the trailer is folded. You then need to replace the cable and not just repair it as it has to slide so the cables cannot have patches.

Locate the square plate at the end of the main cable. Remove this access plate and inspect to make sure nothing is broken.
