A grape trellis should be constructed to provide plenty of support to the vines, while also allowing air and sun to reach as much of the vine as possible. Vineyards typically string high-gauge wire between wood posts, and the posts are arranged in long rows. You can easily replicate this in your yard with 2-3 posts and strong wire.

The best grape trellis you can make is to set two posts and stretch field fence from one to the other. This allows the grapes to vine up and it will support them.
