Question by  snapstix (17)

What can I do about the caterpillars in my crabapple trees?

Answer by  ashera (10)

These insect pests are most frequently the eastern tent caterpillars, or the fall web-worm. Although unsightly, they seldom do significant damage to the hardy Crabapple tree. Often the area they are affecting can be pruned out or the area removed with a gloved hand.

Caterpillars are frequent occupants of crabapple trees, but they are not necessarily damaging. Nest forming caterpillars can be removed easily by hand or via pruning.
