Exercise can help them, as well as a high fiber diet. Sitting in a warm salt bath can reduce them, as well as applying aloe vera to them. There are some cooling inserts which are available, but they can be a little awkward to use. Spend less time sitting down and you'll be good.

The most common solutions are: hysterectomy, invasive surgery to remove the fibroids, and embolization, which blocks blood flow to the fibroids. The question is whether or not you want to retain your fertility and uterus.

Your physician can give you treatment options. Surgery is the usual option if they are causing you a great deal of blood loss and/ or pain. There are also new treatment options including an ablation of the blood supply feeding the fibroids. This new treatment is done by radiologists. Ask your doctor for a referral for this less invasive treatment.

Your doctor should check you for anemia, start you on a course of birth control pills and try to shrink the fibroids. If unsucessful you need to consider invasive options.

The best thing you can do is to discuss options with your doctor and get a second opinion if you aren't comfortable with your doctor's recommendation.
