sticking valves on the 4.0Lv8 rover engine is due to excess carbon build up on exhaust valves stems. Correct way to fix it is to pull the heads, replace valve seals&guides, resurface valve seals (replace if needed) and replace valves with the newer type. Fuel injector cleaner will not help.

Remove the valve cover and inspect the valves. Visually inspect valves for damage or misalignment. If damaged or badly worn it must be replaced. If you can find no damage but there is gunk or debris then that is likely causing the valve to stick. Apply a cleaning solvent to the junk and clean away it and the debris.

I would highly suggest removing the valve and replacing it if possible. If nothing else have a mechanic take a look at it and see what can be done. If a valve gets stuck in the wrong position, it can do some very expensive damage to your vehicle. And Land Rover parts are nuts!

Depends on the kind of valve. If it's an intake or an exhaust valve in the head, you need to rebuild the engine and maybe get a new camshaft. A sticking valve indicates a greater problem in the engine.

The least expensive way is to put a can of Marvel Mystery oil or a pint of transmission fluid in the crankcase and run it for a few hundred miles.

I am a fan of Sea Foam lubricant for about anything. You can use it in oil or gas and use it to winterize vehicles. I put it it in all my vehicles for the winter. In some situations you may get by with just pouring oil in the cylinder and letting sit for awhile.

Will typically when the valve start to stick the only long term solution is to install a new set of valve seals. When the seals go bad the seals start to stick. Once they start not a lot can be done to get them loose and keep them from sticking again without new seals.
