If you have the receipt you might still be in luck. You should immediately contact the place it was purchased. If you can get them to track it, you might be able to get a stop pay on it and have it reissued. It's worth a shot.

Call customer service number on the back of your reciept and they can trace the moneyorder and find if it has been cashed by the person it is made to.

You have to take the receipt to the store you bought the money order from. They will research if it has been cashed. This can take a month in some cases. When they see that it hasn't been cashed they will refund your money or reissue the money order.

Do you have the receipt? If so, call the number and initiate a claim. They will search to see if the money order has been cashed. Be patient.
