Lymphs are blood filters and white blood cell storages. A lymph gland can be enlarged when an infection occurs, the glands swell and can become enflamed because of the reactive increase in white blood cells where the infection has occured.

When cats immune systems are down their lymph glands can become enlarged. you should take your cat to the vet right away if you think they are enlarged, because this can cause them to not eat food normally. If your cat gets skinny take it to the vet right away.
