What can cause air bubbles to come out of my pool returns?

If air bubbles are coming out of the return pipe then that means you have a air leak somewhere. Somehow air is getting inside the pipes. Start looking at all the pipes and see where the air is going in.

This typically means that the pump is sucking air from somewhere on the suction side of the filter setup. The best thing to do in this situation is to check all the o-rings and fittings for imperfections to try and locate where the air is being sucked. The parts that usually require replacement are relatively inexpensive.
