Any dog suffering with any type of infection should be seen by a veterinarian immediately for proper, effective treatment. Staphylococcus bacteria normallyh lives on a dogs skin. When skin becomes irritated, a potentially life-threatening staph infection can easily develop. See the vet as soon as possible.

Most likely, your dog will need to be treated with an antibiotic. Infections are frequently caused by parasites, and will need to be treated either with an internal antibiotic or a topical antibiotic. These will need to be obtained from a vet. These infections become more common as the dog gets older.

For infections, best home remedy is garlic.. crushed a garlic clove then wash your dog's face with it and let it dry

To help Bull mastiffs with facial infections I have always been told to mix some water with lemon to cure any infection. This leaves the dog smelling good and kills any bacteria.
