What breed is a tiger-striped cat?

It is considered a type of tabby cat. This type of striping pattern on a tabby is referred to as a mackerel pattern. Another similar striping pattern is the candle-flame pattern. Tabby, however, is not an actual breed, just a name for the coloring. The breed would depend on several other factors, such as hair length.

The stripes on a cat denote that it's mother and/or father was a Tabby. You can have a cross breed where the cat has stripes present but is not fully a Tabby breed. The colors vary from black with brown to gray with white to two different shades of orange.
