Tabby, however, is not an actual breed, just a name for the coloring. The breed would depend on several other factors, such as hair length.

The stripes on a cat denote that it's mother and/or father was a Tabby. You can have a cross breed where the cat has stripes present but is not fully a Tabby breed. The colors vary from black with brown to gray with white to two different shades of orange.
