CVC stands for Consonant - Vowel - Consonant. CVCs are three-letter words that beginning readers learn when they are learning basic sounds. Cat, rat, bat, hat, sat, bet, wet, dot, cot, hot, hit, bit, sit. The list is virtually endless.
